Last year I ranted about the "shackles" of Comcast triple play... the never-ending cycle of promotions, the pain of pricing as you "normalize" after introductory periods. Outages are worse. Way worse.
Yesterday, my area was affected by a broadband outage that started around 10am, was fixed between noon and 6pm, whereupon it resumed til sometime in the wee hours of the morning -- certainly after 1pm, which was my last attempt to connect. When I say my "area", it's not known to me how many people were impacted. When I called 1 800 comcast, they acknowledged the area with a recording to the IVR, but shared no details on estimate for a fix or size of the outage in terms of customers or square mileage.
VOD was unavailable all day. TV was mostly unavailable as well. I was triple hosed. Thank god I was working on a product requirements document that didn't REALLY need BB access to get drafted. But, still the productivity hit is ruining my weekend.
Seriously, Comcast is vulnerable. I'm going to cafe neto this afternoon -- a reliable hotspot -- to find an alternative home connection and look at HD services on satellite TV services. This is just unworkable. I refuse to buy a satellite card for persistent BB when I'm paying over $200/month for triple play. If I have to have back-up plans, Comcast has to go.
I am sorry for the for the trouble we caused.
Please send me the phone number associated with the account so that I can look into this for you.
Thanks!
