An update on my revious gripes about Comcast service, support and mysterious charges on my monthly bill: After two months and two calls from my wife to Comcast support, the mysterious $40 charge is NOT on my May bill. Nor have we received the promised "challenge" forms related to the mysterious fail-to-return-cable-modem charge that landed on our March and April bills. I guess Comcast has realized that I can't antagonize their support people with this blog if I don't have a comcast cable modem. I was so needing Comcast idiocracy for blog fodder... so I'll dig a little deeper.
During Deadliest Catch tonight, I saw Comcast's new offer for an HD DVR upgrade, which includes the ability to record 4 programs simultaneously (through the magic of more tuners in the same old box). This is easy enough to do on your own. Simply go to Fry's, get yourself a couple of extra HD tuners, pop open the hood of that shitty moto box, and... wait, there's a reason no one has posted a hack.
There's never four things that I want to see on TV at the very same time! This is because television programmers still sell ads against appointment viewing, so there's no way that much good TV will ever be scheduled at the same time. And, some would argue there's just not four good shows on TV period. If Comcast DVR doesn't do speculative recording, then there's absolutely no way you'll use more tuners or more hours of recording.
Thanks Comcast. Can you offer me an upgrade to a useless third nipple too?
